Siddha Peeth Baglamukhi Puja

The Baglamukhi Temple Nal Kheda is located in Nal Kheda town of Agar Malwa district, Madhya Pradesh, on the eastern bank of the Lakhundar River. This ancient temple is believed to date back to the time of the Pandavas. In the sanctum (garbhagriha), Maa Baglamukhi is enshrined in a self-manifested (Swayambhu) idol form, with Maa Mahalakshmi and Maa Mahasaraswati seated on her right and left.

The temple is highly famous in India and abroad and is considered miraculous. Within the temple premises, there are shrines of Bhairav, Hanuman, Pardeshwar, and Radha-Krishna, along with ancient awakened samadhis of sages, indicating its great antiquity. It is believed that the Goddess grants quick blessings, attracting devotees from across India and overseas for rituals, havan, and special ceremonies.

The temple is surrounded by cremation grounds and is situated in the midst of a shmashan. Maa Baglamukhi is regarded as the presiding deity of Tantra and is believed to reside in cremation grounds, which is why many saints and tantric practitioners visit here.

Ancient Tantric texts mention the Dasa Mahavidya, among whom Baglamukhi holds a highly special place. It is said that only three major ancient Siddha Peeth temples of the Goddess exist in the world, and this temple is considered one of them.
Outside the temple stands a sixteen-pillared Sabha Mandap, built about 252 years ago in Samvat 1816 by Pandit Ebuji and the southern craftsman Shri Tularam. A tortoise facing the Goddess idol is also placed there. In ancient times, offerings (bali) were made here.

In front of the temple stands an 80-foot-high Deep Malika (lamp tower), believed to have been constructed by King Vikramaditya.

Devotees perform yajna, havan, and worship here for fulfillment of desires and victory in various fields. According to the chief priests, Gopal Das Ji Panda and Manoharlal Ji Panda, Maa Baglamukhi is a Tantric Goddess, and tantric rituals hold special importance here. The temple’s significance is further enhanced by the belief that the idol is self-manifested and spiritually awakened.

The temple premises have many sacred trees, including bilva, champa, white aak, amla, neem, and peepal. During Navratri, thousands of devotees gather here. The priest’s family has served the Goddess for generations and has experienced her divine presence. Behind the temple, along the Lakhundar River (formerly called Lakshmana), lie the ancient samadhis of saints and sages, testifying to its spiritual heritage.
